Joi Electa, a local artist who has been offering art classes at the Clair Nelson Center, has started an online fundraising page seeking donations for her summer classes for kids.
Electa has been teaching kids’ classes at the center over the winter and said that she and the kids are having a great time, but that she will need supplies for summer classes.
“This last week we only had three paints to work with for 23 kids, ” she said. An expert at making do and repurposing materials and supplies, Electa said she mixed enough of the paint for each student and gave the kids a lesson in color mixing at the same time. She also cut canvases into 3 x 5 inch pieces so the kids could make postcard size paintings.
She said she will offer the summer classes whether she gets the funding or not, but that donations wills allow her to provide a broader range of experience for her students and ensure that each has the supplies he or she needs to participate and practice new skills.
Making a donation is as easy as a few clicks of a mouse. Visit: http://igg.me/p/376840/x/2899053
