Little Libraries on the Big Lake
SILVER BAY PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS
Thanks to all who made donations during Love Your Library Week. Donations helped Silver Bay Public Library & Friends of the Library raise $540. We appreciate the love!
Special thanks to the Wilderness Chapter Minnesota Deer Hunters Association of Silver Bay. The organization made a generous $1,000 donation to the Silver Bay Public Library to purchase new technology for public use.
Every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., Silver Bay has a storytime for toddlers. It is led by library staff and is followed by a structured playtime at 11:35 a.m., led by Kyle Blood and Larissa Goettl as part of their Independent Living class at William Kelley High School. Children are welcome to socialize and play with toys and puzzles in the children’s area before 11:00 a.m. The library may be a little loud (but fun) at these times, so adult patrons are encouraged to plan accordingly.
What’s new at Silver Bay Library?
The Silver Bay Public Library now has a DVD player for two hour in-house use. Waiting for someone at the hair salon? Is the car being repaired? Come on in and watch a movie. There are hundreds of DVDs from which to choose. Silver Bay also has a Kindle eReader for a two week checkout. Library patrons considering the purchase if an eReader can take an opportunity to try one first. Check one out at the library. It’s free!
TWO HARBORS PUBLIC LIBRARY NEWS
This Saturday, March 23, at 12 p.m., the Teen Anime Club will meet at the Two Harbors Public Library. They will finish watching the current series, then vote on what to begin watching next month. Because this is a voting month, it’s a great time for new members to join, as they will have say in what happens next.
New materials at THPL
A large batch of new books just arrived! Some of the fiction titles include:

The library has online access to many neat and helpful databases through the Arrowhead Library System and ELM (Electronic Library of Minnesota). One of the most popular databases available is the Chilton Online Auto Repair Manuals. Is your car acting funny? Need to replace the air filter? Have you lost your maintenance schedule? Simply go to the THPL website, making sure to have your library card handy. Click on “Library Resources” and then on “Free Database and Research Tools.” Chilton’s is right up top. Choose a make, model, and year on Chilton Online...and voila! Check out the suggested maintenance schedules, bulletins and recalls, and a wide variety of repair manuals, many with step-by-step instructions for diagnosing and making repairs. This is a great resource for mechanics and do-it-yourselfers. It is available for all residents who have a Public Library card.
