What's new?
The Silver Bay Public Library now has a DVD player for two hour in-house use. Waiting for someone at the hair salon? Having the car repaired? Come to the library and watch a movie. There are hundreds of DVDs to choose from. Silver Bay also has a Kindle eReader for a two week checkout. Those who have been considering the purchase of an eReader can try one first. It’s free at the library.
Toddler story time
Every Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., Silver Bay has a story time for toddlers led by library staff. The story is followed by structured playtime at 11:35 a.m. led by Kyle Blood and Larissa Goettl as part of their Independent Living class at William Kelley High School. Children are welcome to socialize and play with puzzles and toys in the children’s area before 11:00 a.m. This is a time when the children are having fun and the library may get a little loud, so other library patrons are encouraged to plan accordingly.
Winter reading programs results - Silver Bay
“Winter Escape” children’s reading program at the Silver Bay Public Library was a success! Fifty-nine voracious readers participated in winter activities ranging from roasting marshmallows to the Dr. Seuss birthday celebration.

Glass art presentation plus show-and-tell
The “One Book, One Community” title for the year is Clara and Mr. Tiffany, by Susan Vreeland. This novel follows the real-life exploits of Clara Driscoll, creating designs for Tiffany Glass and managing the women’s work group for Louis Comfort Tiffany. In keeping with this theme, on Tuesday, March 19, at 6:00 p.m., local glass artists Michael Tonder and Jody Freij-Tonder will discuss their kiln-formed glass and their lives as glass artists. They will display finished pieces, show stages of the process, and demonstrate glass-cutting. Area glass artists, students and hobbyists are invited to bring pieces to share in a show-and-tell as the last part of the program. Stained glass, fused glass, blown glass, mosaic, and any other type of glass art is welcome.
