Volunteer spotlight

By: Jan O'Donnell for the Lake County News-Chronicle , Lake County News Chronicle

Two Harbors

Library poster volunteer

The Two Harbors Library needs a volunteer to put up posters in various locations outside of the downtown Two Harbors area. Hours are very flexible and the volunteer will be called upon when posters are made for upcoming library events and programs. Some sort of “wheels” required.

Silver Bay

Lead volunteer needed

RSVP/NVC is seeking a lead volunteer to support partner agencies in the Silver Bay area. Flexible hours, 2-3 hours per week. Desired qualities: Friendly, outgoing personality, organized, committed to volunteerism. Mileage expenses covered. Great work experience for the right person.

Bingo volunteers needed

Meet Pam Coolidge and Mary Johnson. Every Friday afternoon they travel to the Ecumen Scenic Shores Nursing Home to play bingo with the residents. In addition to being fun, Mary says that the volunteering keeps her healthy. Pam is grateful for the “sunshine the residents bring into her day”. Pam and Mary would like to encourage others to “pay It forward” too, by volunteering at the nursing home on Fridays. A volunteer doesn’t have to come every week, but by donating a few hours, he or she can make a difference in the lives of residents and residents may, as Pam observed, make a difference in the life of the volunteer, too.

If you are interested in these or another volunteer position, please contact Jan at AEOA, 218-834-2280, ext. 108 or jan.odonnell@aeoa.org

Arrowhead RSVP is part of Senior Corps and sponsored by AEOA. Funding is provided by the Corporation for National & Community Service; Minnesota Board on Aging; St. Louis and Lake Counties.
