Rossen relative recalls rare ruminants
By: News-Chronicle, Lake County News Chronicle
A couple months ago in the News-Chronicle’s Lake County Past column, there was an item about a local farmer whose cow gave birth to triplet calves. The year was 1912 and the beautiful bevy of bovine belonged to Peter Rossen.
A few weeks after the column was published, the great grand-daughter of Mr. Rossen, Gaynelle Johnson, brought in a photograph of the calves.
Gaynelle, now living in Duluth with her sister Shelley, is one of many Johnson descendants of Rossen. The cow keeper’s clan also includes Didi, Irwin, and Steven and their cousins Sandra, Terri, Mark, Sherri and twins, David and Daniel.
