Anti-bullying message brought to life at the Minnehaha
On Tuesday, Feb. 19, the UMD Voyagers presented “Bigfoot and the Bullies” to students at Minnehaha Elementary School. The Voyagers are a troupe of graduate students from the university’s music department who use theatrical song and dance performances to educate children and adolescents about health and personal safety.
Professional writers, in consultation with medical professionals, social workers, parents and teachers developed the thematic material which combines conflict resolution with original songs, costumes and eye-catching scenery.
After the performance, actors made classroom visits and student audience members participated in a survey. The Minnehaha closed the week continuing its focus and commitment to a bully free school climate.
