Letter to the editor: Thank you to the community

By: From Micky McGilligan and Jan O'Donnell, Two Harbors, Lake County News Chronicle

The Friends of the Two Harbors Library held a fundraising event, “Love Your Library” on Saturday, Feb. 16. A crowd of over 90 people attended to support the library and have a great evening. Sheila Packa and Kathy McTavish performed a wonderous multi-media presentation combining poetry and cello music.

Bidding was vigorous in the silent auction and the buzz of conversation was energizing. With the support of the community, the Friends were able to raise over $3,000 toward the library renovation.

The Friends would like to thank all the businesses and individuals who contributed to the event. We would especially like to thank Louise’s Place for the contribution of very elegant desserts. And, of course, we thank the volunteers who made the event a success, including Karin Smith, Steph Coffey, Michelle Bakes-Fogelberg, Martha Monarcha, Sue Hilliard, Marlys Wisch, Chris Ostby, Meredith Medler, Tom Koehler, and Phill Arnold, as well as Michele Monson and the library staff.

We also extend a very large thank you to the Two Harbors Community for their on-going support of our efforts to raise funds for the library renovation. We look forward to our next events, “Sisters in Crime” in May and the “Crime Wave” in June.
