- ALS Blizzard Tour
The 2013 Blizzard Tour was held this past weekend. Celebrity hosts Terry Steinbach, Ron Gardenhire, Kent Hrbek, Joe Vavre and other riders made a stop again at Our Place in Finland on Saturday. They enjoyed the ride and the food. “Snowflake Annie” again sold snowflakes for this fundraising event. Tom Nikula reported they raised $810,000 for ALS. Good job!
Congratulations to Steve and Patty Houle who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this week.
A funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 1 for Judy Nikula at Sychar Lutheran Church. Judy’s son, Mike Nikula, spoke at the service and later invited family and friends to motor to Crystal Bay Cemetery for the burial. Daughter Cindy Deitz, who now lives in Somerset, Penn., arrived last week and her husband and family arrived on Thursday. Judy’s brother Earl (Butch) also arrived on Thursday. Deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Judy.
Bob and Inga Schermerhorn visited in the area last week and at Zion with old friends. Bob is currently in hospice in the Twin Cities.
