RAILROAD CHANGE IS REPORT SURE

Rumor remains persistent that the D & NM will be purchased by the Canadian Northern as a link between Duluth and Port Arthur although it is impossible to verify any of the rumors at the company’s headquarters. It is reported that the company is quietly securing a right of way into Proctor expecting to get into Duluth over its main line and then secure control of the road. The new branch being built by the Alger line west from North Branch Junction will be used as the main line and the line to Knife River abandoned.

OPEN HOUSE SHOWS CREDIT UNION RISE

COMPANY UNPACKS IN TWO HARBORS

Granite Gear has moved sewing machines and other equipment into temporary quarters above Cuddy’s Pizza on Waterfront Drive to make back packs and other outdoor equipment. The two- year old company from Minneapolis decided to move to Two Harbors based on a good feeling about the city and its residents and will be employing three more locals soon with the hopes to employ at least 19 by the end of next year.

MOOSE LODGE 1463 CELEBRATES 100 YEARS

In recognition of Brotherhood Week and in celebration of the Moose 100th Anniversary there will be a “Centennial Sunday” Open House at the Two Harbors Moose Lodge on First Avenue, Feb. 14. Refreshments will be served.
