Big Lake quarterback Tyler Halverson hit wide receiver Connor Johnson on a 9-yard touchdown pass with no time left on the clock to defeat host Duluth East 41-36 in a Mississippi 8 Conference game Friday night at Ordean Stadium.
The Hornets (1-4 overall, 1-3 conference) faced a fourth-and-9 from East’s 9-yard-line with two seconds left before Halverson connected on his third TD pass of the night.
Senior quarterback Alex Toscano was 8-for-12 passing for 221 yards, and added 158 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 23 carries for the Greyhounds
(2-3, 1-2).
East junior running back Brian Lansing also had a big night, running 25 times for 174 yards and three scores, as well as hauling in five receptions for 101 yards.

Parker Anderson rushed for two long touchdowns as the Hawks took control with 33 unanswered points en route to the Sea-Range Conference victory in International Falls.
Adam Olson added tough inside rushing for Hermantown (4-1, 4-0).
Nick Janttie’s 15-yard TD reception gave International Falls (0-5, 0-4) a 20-14 lead before the Hawks got a late TD just before the half and then outscored the Broncos 26-0 in the final two quarters.
