Deepest sympathy goes out to the family and friends of Dorothy Shaffer. Dorothy died at home at the age of 94 on Jan. 4, 2013. Dorothy was a long time resident of Finland and known for her wonderful baking and cooking. She was head cook for Lake County School District in Finland and Silver Bay schools. There was no match for her delicious buns, which many of us enjoyed through the years. A memorial service is being held on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church.

Gary and Ellen Hedin recently got good news. Their little grandson, who had heart surgery at the Children’s Hospital is doing well and came home for Christmas. Continued get well wishes go out to him.

Deepest sympathy goes out to Vernon Barstad, family and friends in the loss of his sister Marion. A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 5, in Baxter, Minnesota.
