GOVERNOR FAVORS REAPPORTIONMENT
Addressing the joint session in the house, Governor Eberhart stressed several points of interest to the population of northern Minnesota including saying that Northern Minnesota must be treated right in the matter of reapportionment. Also mentioned were: workingmen’s compensation law, laws limiting the hours of women and children in employment; extension of agricultural education; uniform laws on negotiable instruments, divorce and wife desertion recommended; state income tax; county tuberculosis sanatoriums.

Autos were out up to last week, but the weather this week has not been comfortable for that sort of sport.

ARRESTS MOUNT IN PAST YEAR
Two Harbors Police jail greatest number since 1927 with liquor the chief cause. Sixty-five were booked on charges of drunkenness; 17 for drunken driving; 5 for reckless driving; 3 for public nuisance; 5 for begging; 4 for sale of liquor without a license; 1 each for assault and operating a car after revocation of license. Fifty five persons were lodged in the jail at their own request during the year as well.
WYNYAH MAY CUT ISLAND SERVICE
The only transportation facility between Duluth and Isle Royale may be discontinued as the result of the seamen’s act requiring a crew of 14 men on the steamer Winyah. Operated by 11 men, the additional cost of operation will wipe out any margin of profit the boat has made in the fishing business according to Captain Martin Christiansen. The 140 foot steel ship was once the yacht of Andrew Carnegie.

AUTO AGENCY PLANS OPEN HOUSE SOON
The inauguration of a new automobile agency in Two Harbors, the Bacon Rambler Co. at 702 Seventh Avenue will be observed at an open house even on Jan. 17th. The business will be operated by Edward A. and A. O. (Ed and Al) Bacon, both of whom are widely known in automotive circles in the area. The new 1963 Rambler models will be on display.
SEVEN VIE FOR QUEEN TITLE
Seven lovely locals have filed for the coveted title of Queen of the 1966 Winter Frolics in February. The seven are: Alice Uppgard, Linda LaBounty, Barbara Waxlax, Joanne Stanich, Jeanne Grudnosky, Betty Johnson and Bonnie Udenberg.

FINAL BOATS OF SEASON CALL ON TWO HARBORS
The Edwin H. Gott was weathering a blizzard in at the DM&IR ore docks in Two Harbors while the Edgar B. Speer was making for the docks. The two 1000-foot ore boats will be the last to visit the docks this season, said Bob Bennett, a DM&IR official. The boats conclude a shipping season that finished strong with 6.5 million tons of ore shipped out of Agate Bay. Next year could be even better for Two Harbors docks.
BLIZZARD HITS
Tuesday, Jan. 12, brought about a snow storm that buried most of Two Harbors with blizzard conditions closing schools, the courthouse and many businesses. Wednesday brought about many locals trying to shovel out.
