Louis Martin Stefanich

Louis Martin Stefanich, 85, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013.

He was born Oct. 22, 1927 in Tower, Minn., to Louis and Emma (Strukel) Stefanich.

Louis attended Tower High School, Virginia Jr. College, and Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

He met his wife Greta while working at the First National Bank in Minneapolis.

They were married July 31, 1954, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Pine City, Minn.

The couple moved to Babbitt, Minn., where Louis worked for Reserve Mining Co. They moved to Silver Bay in 1955. He retired from Reserve Mining in 1986.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Silver Bay where he served as Financial Secretary for 34 yrs.

Louis was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th degree and served as Grand Knight and District Deputy. He was a Eucharistric Minister, Lector and taught CCD classes.

He was preceded in death by parents Louis and Emma; brother Clement; brothers and sisters in-law Audrey and Alvin Beyer, John Lindquist, Ramona Chromey, and Carol Stefanich.

Survived by wife Greta; seven children Rebecca Orvik, Mary Beth (Keith) Hoffman, Susan (Mark Roubinek) Stefanich, Timothy (Pamela), Louis Warner (fiance' Monica Kocourek), Ruth Emma (Yves) Zouzouambe, Matthew (Dawn); 12 grandchildren Clay, Greg, Garrett, Megan, Daniel, Miranda, Alex, Stephane, Marcel, Zachary, Owen, Samuel; brothers James and Jerome (Janice); sister-in-law Joyce Lindquist; and many nieces and nephews.

MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church 57 Horn Blvd. in Silver Bay.
