Doris H. Samuelson, 94, Two Harbors, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, in Lake View Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 10, 1918 to Daniel and Lena (Kracht) Woods in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota. Doris grew up in Winthrop and graduated from high school there in 1936. She married Darwin Samuelson in 1938 at the Methodist Church in Winthrop, and they owned and operated the family farm near Lafayette. After moving to Two Harbors in 1966 they owned the Daisy Shop. Doris worked at St Luke’s Hospital and later as a nurse’s aide at Lake View Home in Two Harbors.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Darwin in 2000, brothers Merlin, Vernon, and Raymond Woods; daughter Deanna Monroe, grand-daughter Dawn Monroe, and son-in-law, Will Okeson.
Doris is survived by daughters Darla Okeson of Grove City, Minn., and Donna (Lynn) Luchsinger of New Richmond, Wisc.; grandchildren Kevin (Lori) Okeson, Pamela (Brian) Bagley, Daniel (Jen) Monroe, Dana Monroe, Lisa Luchsinger, and Craig (Julie) Luchsinger; 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and a nephew Lawrel (Kathy) Woods.
