Volunteer spotlight: This week, you can help a neighbor

Have you got too many holiday decorations?

Recycle your holiday decorations and spread some Christmas cheer.

As you think about decorating for the holidays, do you find that you have way too much or have more than you can really use? Make those extra decorations available to other households who cannot afford them. Drop off your extra holiday decorations at the AEOA office at 2124 10th Street. We have a table there to make decorations available to others in the community. If you have questions, please call Jan at 834-2280, ext 108.

Would you like to help with gift distribution?

Volunteers are needed at the Salvation Army Christmas distribution. We need a total of six people, Dec. 18, at the American Legion in Two Harbors. There are two shifts, 9 a.m.—12 p.m. and 12—3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. If you want to really get into the holiday spirit, volunteer by calling Jan at 834-2280, ext 108.

Little things mean a lot

Think of all those wonderful people that you know who are always helping someone! During this holiday season of caring and sharing, we’d like to celebrate the unsung heroes of our community who are always giving to others without much acknowledgement. Take a moment to thank your unsung hero. And, while you are at it, share a smile with someone you don’t know, offer to help someone in some way, big or small. It’s a part of what makes living on the North Shore so great!
