On Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3, six students from the William Kelley High School Band along with their director, Kristine Peterson, traveled to the University of Minnesota- Duluth to participate in the 55th Annual Senior High Honor Band Festival.
300 students were nominated for the festival and only the top were chosen. Students from Minnesota and Wisconsin attended, taking classes with a professional brass ensemble, “Rhythm and Brass,” and performing under the watchful eye of Frank Ticheli, one of the leading composers of band music today.
Yarrow Mead, Dexer Yoki, Faith Frahm, Mark Harris, Kari Smerud and Kristini Thums were chosen for the Maroon and Gold Honor bands.
