John Hanson who grew up on the North Shore and now lives in California is a faithful reader of the Finland News column. Ruth Himes got a surprise phone call from him last week. John had read in the news that Ruth had been back to Mayo Clinic for her open-heart check-up and just wanted to call to see if she was doing well. Thanks John and happy reading.

The Northshore Area Partners had a good turnout on Tuesday at the Clair Nelson Center.
Julie and Josh Arnold are the proud new parents of a baby girl, Ava Maple Arnold. Ava was born on Thursday, Nov.8, weighing in at 9 lbs. 19”long. Proud grandparents are Ric and Diane Lindberg, and David and Deborah Arnold. Proud great-grandparents are Lila Hangartner, Arleen Lindberg and Great Grandma Marcie. Congratulations to all.
Birthday greetings go out to Julie Arnold who turned the the big 30 on Monday.
It has been a sad week in our communities with the loss of Bernie Zupancich. Bernie died on Nov. 8 at the age of 71. Bernie had a heart of gold. Bernie was one that was always there for everyone, giving and supporting in the community and organizations. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with visitation at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served following the service at the Silver Bay Reunion Hall. Deepest sympathy goes out to all of Bernie’s family and friends. He is dearly missed.
Get well wishes go out to Al Ellefson who has recently been in the hospital.
