Members of the United Steelworkers have ratified a new 37-month contract with Cliffs Natural Resources for union members at Hibbing Taconite, United Taconite in Eveleth and the Empire and Tilden
taconite operations in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
The union and company reached a tentative agreement on Oct. 11 and union workers voted over the past three weeks to accept the deal that includes a 4.5 percent wage increase and a $4,250 bonus through the term of the agreement.
Union officials said the contract also preserves current health care for active members and retirees.
“This is an agreement that ensures a stable future for our members, retirees and the company," Robert Bratulich, USW District 11 director and the lead negotiator, said in a statement.
