The Lady Agates soccer team ended its season Oct. 11 after its first playoff game, losing 0-6 to No.3 ranked Esko/Carlton.
“I thought we would come out a little stronger than we did. We didn’t meet our expectations,” Head Coach Jeff Peterson said.
Despite finishing the season with a record of 1-15, Peterson said the girls showed impressive perseverance throughout the season; playing their hearts out in games even when they were losing.
“They set an example with how hard they worked and how important soccer was to them,” he said.
The team will graduate eight seniors this year, including captains Michaela Campbell, Amanda Laine and Abby Cable.
“All the seniors really contributed a lot,” Peterson said.
There were no juniors on the team this year, meaning the next two years will have “a really strong” starting lineup, according to Peterson.
“I would encourage seventh- and eighth-grade girls to come out next year,” Peterson said, adding that the team always welcomes newcomers.
