Many locals attended the funeral service for Patsy Barstad, at Grace Lutheran Church in Duluth on Saturday. Patsy died at home on Wednesday, Oct. 17, after a long illness. Deepest sympathy goes out to her family and friends.

Congratulations to John Fredrickson who was honored at the DECC Friday evening. John was the recipient of The Minnesota State Fire Chiefs Association Award for Fire Officer of the Year for a community with a population of 10,000 or less. Many of his brother firefighters were there to be part of this special event.

Jim, Chris, and Michael Sinderman motored to Eagan on Friday to celebrate Phyllis and Mike Sinderman’s birthday.

Ric and Diane Lindberg spent the weekend with Josh and Julie Arnold in Waconia. While there, Diane attended a baby shower for daughter Julie in Inver Grove Heights at the home of Ric’s mother, Arleen Lindberg.

Esther Berry, a former resident of Finland died on Friday, Oct. 19 in Cambridge, Minn. Esther was a long- time teacher and principal of the Finland School. She was also very involved with youth of Finland as a leader for the Finland 4-H Club for many years.

A funeral service is pending, as her son Ed in currently in the hospital. Deepest sympathy goes out to family and friends. In addition, get-well wishes go out to Ed.

There will be a Harvest Festival Benefit Concert held at the Clair Nelson Center on Friday evening, Oct. 26. The concert will feature Paul Jones, Gordon Thorne and more. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the concert at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10. There will also be a bonfire and refreshments. Proceeds will go to Clair Nelson Center for a new dishwasher.

Support your local fire department with purchasing a raffle ticket. The drawing will take place Sunday afternoon, Oct. 28 at the Trestle Inn. The raffle is all cash prizes. Stop out an enjoy the afternoon.
