Volunteer spotlight: Sharon and Sadie Libal

By: Jan O'Donnell for the Lake County News-Chronicle , Lake County News Chronicle

Sharon and Sadie Libal really like animals. This mother and daughter team have demonstrated this affection over the past six years by volunteering at the Lake County Animal Shelter. They help with the evening shift once a week, host a monthly open house on the weekend, and do a lot of community outreach on behalf of the shelter. And, of course, they were part of the Pet Walk Fundraiser for the shelter last Saturday.

“The animals give back so much more than you give them,” said Sharon, when asked why she volunteers at the shelter.

She also enjoys volunteering with her daughter, she said.

Volunteers at the shelter must be reliable and confident around animals. If under 18, volunteers must be accompanied by an adult.

If you like animals and are thinking of volunteering, please contact Jan, RSVP/NVC at 834-2280, ext. 108.

Arrowhead RSVP is part of Senior Corps and sponsored by AEOA. Funding is provided by the Corporation for National & Community Service; Minnesota Board on Aging; St. Louis and Lake Counties.
