Physics Regatta

Two Harbors High School students participated in the annual Physics Boat Regatta on Oct. 15. The regatta is normally held in Burlington Bay, but the chilly fall wind and daunting waves sent the group to the more sheltered Agate Bay. The students, who take physics with Penny Juenemann at the high school, partnered up and spent weeks working on their boats. The one rule: the boat must be made from cardboard. The project is intended to help students learn about the laws of physics with lots of laughter and fun on the side--and a touch of irony. The cardboard Titanic went down much like its namesake.
