The Mariners ran into a buzz saw at Joel Maturi Field in Chisholm as they fell 70-20 to the Chisholm Blue Streaks. The 70 points were scored a team that was shutout 32-0 the week before in Ely.

Chisholm scored first after they recovered the ball on the Mariner 36 yard- line following a bad snap on a punt. A two-yard run by Logan Peratola, the first of five for him during the contest, put the Blue Streaks up 8-0.The Mariners came right back and tied it up at eight. Chad Smuk scored from 59 yards out and Bradley Rowlee ran in for the two-point conversion.

A seven-yard run by Peratalo put the Blue Streaks ahead for good, but the Mariners came right back with another long run by Smuk, this one for 51 yards. At 16-14, it would be as close as the Mariners would get to the Blue Streaks.

The Blue Streaks scored four more touchdowns before the first half ended and led 44-14 at the halftime break. They added another touchdown in the third and three more in the fourth for a total of 10 touchdowns.

Luke Small ran in from 20 yards for the last Mariner score.

The Mariners hosted the South Ridge Panthers on Wednesday in their final regular season game. The Panthers lost their first game of the season and have not lost since. The Panthers have clinched at least a tie for the Big North Conference title and are the number one seed in Section 5A. Before the South Ridge game, the Mariners were at number six. That ranking will send them to Cromwell on Tuesday for a first round Section 5 contest.

The volleyball team split their last two contests defeating Two Harbors 3-1 (22-25,25-14-25-14 & 25-5) and losing 3-0 to Esko (11-25,11-25 & 18-25). Against Two Harbors, Alicia Nopola had 17 kills and four blocks, Sydney Topp had six kills and three blocks and Kari Smerud had 22 set assists and four ace serves .Nopola had five kills, Rebecca Dilley had five digs and Smerud had 10 set assists in the Esko game.
