Two Harbors vs. Silver Bay volleyball
Silver Bay came out on top in a match pitting two Lake County schools against one another. The girls played four sets. The Agates won the first 22-25 but the Mariners came back strong, winning the next three sets 25-13, 25-18 and 25-4.
Agate Girls’ Swimming and Diving
Final Score: Two Harbors High School 112 -- Duluth Denfeld 74
The Agates defeated Duluth Denfeld on Tuesday night 112-74 to improve their record to 8-0. This was the Agates’ last home meet of the season and they had a very strong showing. The girls placed first in half of the events of the evening and claimed the top three spots in three of those. The girls continue to show more improvement as the season continues.
Two Harbors football
On Friday, Oct. 5 the Agates football team played the Eveleth-Gilbert Golden Bears. Eveleth came out on top with a score of 45-6.
Junior running back Nick Johnson led the Two Harbors offense with 62 yards rushing on eight carries. Junior running back Mike Nordean added 32 yards rushing on eight carries. Defensively, senior Austyn Wasko and junior Mike Nordean lead the Agates with eight tackles each. Sophomores Lucas Kempffer and Alex Lemke contributed seven tackles each. Senior Skylar Lysaker, junior Mark Pearson, and freshman Jonah Alm had six tackles each for the Agates. It would be the defense that would score the only points of the game for the Agates when Lucas Kempffer sacked the Eveleth-Gilbert quarterback in the second quarter, forcing a fumble which Mike Nordean scooped up and ran in 76 yards for a touchdown.
