The Mariners( minus one starter) came into their game with the Mountain Iron-Buhl Rangers and before the contest was over they were down four starters. This led directly to the 46-6 result in favor of the Rangers.

The Rangers jumped out to a 6-0 on a 32 yard run by Deven Rowe, after the Mariners had fumbled away their first possession. After the Mariners went three and out, the Rangers made it 12-0 when Trent Combs ran one in from 16 yards out. Another Mariner turnover late in the first half at their own 12 yard line led to a pass from Archie Winans to Rowe for a 20-0 Ranger lead at halftime.

The Rangers scored on all four of their possessions in the second half on runs of 12, 80 and 57 yards along with a 49 yard pass, as they rolled to the 46-6 victory. The Mariners only score came on a perfectly throw pass from Luke Small that hit Jonah Koehler in stride for a 50 yard touchdown.

Combs and Rowe each rushed for over 120 yards with Combs scoring four times and Rowe twice. Three Ranger passers completed 13 of 18 passes for 172 yards.oehler rushed for 87 yards for the Mariners. Small completed 5 of 7 passes for 98 yards.

The leading tacklers in the game for the Mariners were Small with 11,Leif Maxwell with 7 and Michael Fischer with 6. Koehler also had an interception.

The Mariners who are now 1-2 on the season, travel to Cherry this evening to take on the Tigers. The Tigers who are winless at 0-3, have also been suffering from the injury bug.

The Mariner volleyball team fell 3-1 at Carlton by scores of 22-25,25-20,14-25 & 21-25.Rebecca Dilley had 14 kills and 13 digs, Alicia Nopola had 8 kills and 7 ace blocks and Rachel Dilley had 4 kills and 21 digs. Kari Smerud had 22 set assists, KaeLyn Lemski 5 kills, and Phoenix Lillis was 14 for 14 for 100% serving. The girls are at Ely Monday, host Barnum on Tuesday and are at Cromwell on Thursday.
