City bow hunt

Two Harbors

The bow hunt for deer begins Sept. 15 and there will be five designated zones for archers in wooded areas within the Two Harbors city limits.

Go to www.droptinechapter.com to see a map of the zones where hunting is permitted.

“The general public should know that hunters will be out in the city limits and not to be alarmed,” said Two Harbors Police Chief Kevin Ruberg.

Hunters must have a regular archery license, a special permit, pass a criminal background check and archery proficiency test before receiving their permit. According to the 2012 City of Two Harbors Archery Deer Hunt Program Description and Regulations, ”the first deer taken must be an antlerless deer. After the first antlerless deer is taken, participants must then register that deer at the Two Harbors Police Department and obtain a permit to take a buck. Participants may take the maximum number of deer allowed by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.” The bow hunting season ends Dec. 31.
