Chris Ostby is a “bookish” sort of person…in the best possible way. Ostby moved to Two Harbors from Hibbing in 1992 and by 1996 began serving the newly formed Friends of the Two Harbors Area Library as the founding chair. The Friends of the Library purpose is to:
• Fundraise to support projects for the library
• Public Relations to raise awareness of the library, its services and needs;
• Volunteer Help wherever the library has extra needs
• Developing and hosting programs of interest to the public.
Ostby is now serving as chair again and is also the site coordinator for the upcoming Annual Book Sale which will be held in the Community Center on Sept. 14 - 15. Needless to say, Ostby is an avid reader.
“First you learn to read, then you read to learn,” she said. She encouraged people to volunteer with the Friends of the Library and at the book sale. You can volunteer and find some great books to read, she said.
“It is very fun to set it up and sell the books. Clean up is really fun too,” she said.
If you think you might like this type of volunteer position, contact Jan, RSVP/NVC at 834-2280, ext. 108.
Arrowhead RSVP is part of Senior Corps and sponsored by AEOA. Funding is provided by the Corporation for National & Community Service; Minnesota Board on Aging; St. Louis and Lake Counties.
