From head coach Tom Nelson: We knew going into the game that Cook County was going to be a very big challenge as they had scrimmaged Esko, Duluth East, and Hermantown the week before and may have been the best team at that scrimmage. With that said, we were ready to see how we would play against them. We have an extremely young team; the youngest team I have coached in my 12 years as head coach. Because of that, I knew we would go through some growing pains. Our kids did had some good plays but Cook County had some great athletes that took advantage of any mistakes we made. Our kids never stopped working and we did not see any heads hanging…..and because of that we know that we will continue to improve and will try to surprise some people this year.

The next game for the Agates will be on Friday, Sept. 7 at Two Harbors H.S. vs. Hinckley-Finlayson at 7 p.m. This will be the first home game of the season for the Agates, and will also be Father's Night for the team.
