Missing man found dead

The body of Andrew Wagner, 48, was found by a hiker Sept. 4 near Orr. The hiker discovered the truck, later identified as belonging to Wagner, parked on a logging tote road. There appeared to be a deceased person inside.

St. Louis Sheriff’s Office units responded and the body was determined to be that of Wagner, who disappeared in May. No foul play is suspected in the matter.

Local agency to provide career planning to teens

The Northeast Minnesota Office of Job Training has received a $135,000 grant from the State of Minnesota for Northeast Career EdVenture, a project to provide career guidance and planning services for secondary students throughout the region.

Program staff will provide a variety of career planning and guidance services to secondary students throughout the region, including Lake County. These services are not intended to replace the services of school guidance counselors.

ARAC seeks new board members

The Arrowhead Regional Arts Council is hoping to complete the roster of our Board of Directors early this fall. They have received two applications, and hope to receive several more including one applicant residing in Lake County, one at-large applicant residing in any Arrowhead county outside the city limits of Duluth and one student liaison, an arts enrolled student at any of the Arrowhead post-secondary institutions.

These four open board positions pertain to the July 1, 2012 - June 30, 2015 fiscal terms.

ARAC is looking for individuals with knowledge of various art forms and perspectives.

Responsibilities include overseeing the award of project-based funding to regional non-profit organizations and individual artists, assessing the art needs of the region, and developing programs that stimulate the regional arts community.
