Wow, do we have some talent in our community! On Saturday, dozens of artists entertained hundreds of spectators with their amazing works of chalk art along Waterfront Drive in front of the Thomas Owens Park. While the more serious artists were busy drawing with colored pastels on the sidewalks, artists of all ages were drawing their outlines in the street. We had great food, fun and even great weather.
All this could not have been possible without a lot of help .Thank you to the sponsors: City of Two Harbors Arts and Beautification Committee, Waterfront Gallery, ColdSnap Photography, The Pub, True Value, The Lake Bank, THFCU, Mooselaneous Gifts and Two Harbors Rotary. Thank you to Louise’s Cafe for providing yummy chocolate and sandwiches, Rosie the Clown, Arlee’s Face Painting, Ruby’s Henna Tattoos and “Jack Sparrow”. Thank you to our visiting artists Erin, Miranda, Meng, Thus, Shelby, Sue and Mort from Wausau, Wis., who came all the way up here to help get our first year going. Thank you so much Mort McBain for his guidance, wisdom, expertise, tips and support as well as his clinics and demonstration. Thank you to Val Doherty for hosting our visiting artists. Thank you to the City of Two Harbors public works and street departments. Thank you to volunteers Hannah Hernandez and Forrest McKenzie for the unglamorous work of cleaning up. Thanks to those who provided tents. Thank you to all the locations for displaying posters and brochures. Thank you so much to my husband LJ (Larry) Ronning for supporting me and helping me all these months and believing in me. Thank you John Gregor for not letting me quit! Thank you to ChalkFest Wausau for showing us the ropes as we volunteered at their ninth annual event. Thank you to Dan and Darla Gratton for hosting us while we were in Wausau to learn how to do a sidewalk chalk festival. And most of all, thank you to all the FABULOUS ARTISTS who participated in this event! You are amazing!
Just another reason to come to Two Harbors, because like the water tower tells us: It All Starts Here!!!
Let’s do this again!!! If you would like to help plan for the sidewalk chalk event in 2013, please contact me at michelle@47degreestwoharbors.com.
