Thursday at Do North Pizza, a local man attempted the Two Harbors version of Man v. Food. Silas Walker and his son David set out to eat one 28-inch, 16-pound pizza in under 45 minutes. For reference, a medium pizza from Do North is less than two pounds.
The men made a valiant effort, but gave up after 35 minutes and after eating more than half the pizza.
A similar challenge was featured on the popular Travel Channel show Man v. Food during which host Adam Richman and competitive eater Greg Moomsi shared a 10-pound pizza from a shop in Connecticut. The two barely completed the challenge in the hour time limit.
Walker estimated that he ate six or seven pounds, more than either of the men in the Man v. Food challenge downed. At the beginning of the challenge, Mayor Randy Bolen asked Walker what his strategy was.
“Just eat til I’m full, man,” Walker answered.
Though the challenge ended with food as the champion, Walker certainly left full.
“That was too big for one man. I’m stuffed,” he said.
