The American Legion Riders came through town on Friday, Aug. 10 on their annual run to raise money for the Legacy Scholarship Fund. The fund provides money to the children of fallen soldiers to attend college.

Zandra Kessler, member of the local American Legion Post 109 Auxiliary, participated in a portion of the ride which went from Pine City through Two Harbors to Grand Rapids and back down to Austin. It was the second ride for the group this summer—last weekend, the riders did a west tour in the other half of the state.

“It still amazes me how they are one big family and look out for you even if you are an experienced rider or a newbie,” Kessler said.

In total, the group raised $37,000 and about $600 in Two Harbors. Their year-end goal is $50,000.
