The Minnesota Department of Health is advising people to avoid water contact at two North Shore beaches.
The department today issued water-contact-not-recommended advisories for Kadunce Creek and Agate Bay beaches after elevated levels of E. coli bacteria, indicating the possible presence of fecal contamination, were found in water samples from the beaches.
Kadunce Creek Beach is at Kadunce Creek picnic area north of Grand Marais. Agate Bay Beach is in Two Harbors.
Earlier advisories for two beaches in Duluth remain in effect. Those beaches are 20th Street/Hearding Island Canal Beach and the Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach, both located on the harbor side of Park Point.
Anyone who becomes ill after contact with beach water is asked to contact the Minnesota Department of Health at (877) 366-3455.
