On Monday, August 6, The Two Harbors Public Library will be hosting two presenters on South Korea

The first presenter is Molly Guiney, a local high school graduate (2012), who will present her documentary on the Kwangju Massacre in South Korea, which advanced from the regional History Day Competition to finally place 4th in the State History Day Competition! As well as sharing her documentary, Molly will share insights from her studies and the History Day competition itself.

The second presenter is Fran Kaliher, a local who has been on multiple trips to South Korea and who will share her experiences, especially those regarding the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) acting as a de facto wildlife refuge.

On Wednesday, August 8, author Dean Hovey will give a talk on his latest book, “Whistling Pines,” a mystery set in Two Harbors.

The Summer Reading Programs for kids and adults are wrapping up soon and will conclude with celebrations on August 9. The kids’ party will be 1:30-3:30 p.m., and will include a visit from the Lake Superior Zoo's zoomobile. There will also be snacks and prizes. The adults’ party will be 6:30-7:30 p.m. Prize winners will be announced and there’ll also be games of banagrams to celebrate.

The concluding celebration of the Teens’ Summer Reading Program will be later, on August 31. There will be a Hunger Games theme, pizza and pop will be provided, and prize winners will be announced.
