Sulfide-mining company has bad track record

Sulfide mining in Minnesota promises to be an innovative, well-engineered project for the present and future citizens of Lake County and Minnesota by Bechtel Corporation, the largest engineering and construction firm in the United States. The same that Bechtel helped design, engineer, superintend and manage Boston’s renowned I-93/I-90 “Big Dig” highway project. Initially envisioned to cost $2 billion and finally completed for over $14 billion (well, actually $22 billion if you include interest on state bonds), the “Big Dig” has a tunnel lighting system that is presently being overhauled, as reported in the Boston Herald, for an additional $54 million due to poor design, workmanship and supervision. Bechtel-engineered sulfide mining in Minnesota will supposedly be a “state of the art” project. Their claims are guaranteed to inspire confidence, especially given Bechtel’s repeated promises of no environmental complications for the present and future citizens of Lake County and Minnesota.
Will the last citizen to leave northern Lake County, kindly please turn out the lights?
