To my fellow citizens of Two Harbors,

Three and a half years ago you entrusted me to lead our city by electing me as your Mayor. Together, we have made great strides in moving our community forward, and I am more passionate than ever about finding ways we can continue to make Two Harbors a great city in which to live, work, and raise our families.

That is why I’m proud to announce my re-election bid to continue to serve as Mayor of Two Harbors.

I am asking voters to join me on our path toward the future, and I am asking you to allow me to continue to build on the progress we have made in my first term of office. My decision to seek re-election is driven by my belief that we can continue to increase opportunities for jobs and economic development, to support measures that increase public safety, and most importantly, to promise that all citizens will have a voice in local government.

As mayor I will continue to be accessible and approachable to all of the residents of Two Harbors. I have appreciated the opportunity to meet with community members through the Mayor’s Community Night each month, and I’m grateful for the chance to listen to what is important to you.

I believe that one of our primary goals at this time is jobs, and I have the proven skills to work well with elected officials at the local, regional, state and federal levels to achieve this goal. And since I became your mayor, I have worked relentlessly with our community partners to build our economy through innovation, increased investment, and vital training opportunities. As your Mayor I have had the honor of working together with a dedicated city council, an entrepreneurial business community and countless citizens from every part of this city. The evidence of that work is all around us and I believe we are on the right path.

Since coming into office, I believe Two Harbors is a safer community. Our police department is utilizing more training, using data-based policing, and community policing techniques to give us all a better sense of security. Our fire department continues to be a regional leader in what a volunteer fire department should be.

Our community has a wealth of talented and skilled individuals that are willing to share those interests with all of us, so it made perfect sense for me to establish the City Arts and Beautification Commission. Members are actively developing arts and culture opportunities for residents of all ages to enjoy all around the City. We can be incredibly proud of our recreational flagships: sports fields, parks, and bike & walking paths. A thriving community is one that chooses to provide well-rounded opportunities that can help improve everyone’s quality of life.

I’m proud that as a city government we deliver results and accountability. But I am just as proud that we remain a city of values. A city that reaches out to include everyone. A city that believes in helping each other. A city that is committed to giving all of our children the start in life they deserve.

In the months ahead I’ll be talking to you about how we will continue to incrementally build our economy, provide more jobs, continue towards revitalizing downtown, and care for those falling through the cracks – all while sticking to our budget and in keeping with our values.

To be a City that is poised to take on these goals we need dynamic leadership, a leadership that insists on crafting a plan for this city’s future, and focusing on building a consensus to ensure its fulfillment. We need a leader who can ensure that everyone has a voice. A leader who can empower our residents from every neighborhood to not only identify our goals but to inspire community involvement. A leader who can inspire each of us to help move our city forward. If you allow me to continue as your Mayor, I will be that leader.

I love our city. And if given the honor of being re-elected as your Mayor, I pledge to continue to build on our successes and creatively address any challenges that lie ahead. I hope you will partner with me to make Two Harbors all it can be.

Sincerely written,

Randy Bolen

Mayor, Two Harbors
