Caregivers, staff and volunteers had a fun Saturday morning at Maxwell’s Woodland Nursery. North Shore Area Partners sponsored this event and all seemed to be enjoying the day.

Madeline Nelson, daughter of Mark and Kathy Nelson, had the thrill of a lifetime recently when she got to meet and have her picture taken with President Obama.

Through a combination of hard work and good luck, Madeline, along with nine other volunteers with Organizing for America, was selected to have a brief session with the president at the Bachelor Farm Restaurant in Minneapolis, owned by Gov. Mark Governor Dayton’s sons.

Maddy was introduced to the president and he gave her a hug and told her he loved her name because it had been his grandmother’s name. They then stood together to have their picture taken, which Maddy will receive shortly. Maddy said she had been completely star struck when the president entered the room and the photograph taken with him will be a treasured keepsake.
