Standout senior citizens wanted

Nominations from Lake County residents are being sought for the 2012 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award.

Nominations from Lake County residents are being sought for the 2012 Outstanding Senior Citizen Award. The award recognizes senior citizens who have contributed their time and talent to benefit the community after reaching the age of 65.

They will be honored at the Lake County Fair Aug. 23.

Winners at the county level will move on to compete at the state level during the Minnesota State fair. The 2011 Lake County Outstanding Seniors were Two Harbors resident Lavonne Olson and Finland’s Robert Nikolai.

Official nomination forms are available by contacting Jilean Umgelter at (218) 830-9558. Nomination forms can also be picked up at Community Partners at Bayview Terrace, the Two Harbors Public Library and North Shore Area Partners in Silver Bay. Deadline for nominations is Aug. 1.
