Ron L’Allier, 59, of Silver Bay, died unexpectedly May 23 at home.

Ron L’Allier, 59, of Silver Bay, died unexpectedly May 23 at home.

He was born Feb. 8, 1953, to Paul and Marie (Michlitsch) L’Allier in St. Paul.

Ron grew up in St. Paul, was an Eagle Scout, and graduated from Washington High School. He attended the University of Minnesota and graduated with a degree in criminal justice.

He lived in Backus, where he was a volunteer firefighter, owned the local café, and worked at the state hospital in Walker.

He moved to Silver Bay in 2005 and worked as a restorative aid at the Minnesota Veterans Home until his death.

He married Tammy Setter in January 2007.

He was a member of the Silver Trail Riders and the Backus Lake Association.

Ron loved making people happy and enjoyed hiking, fishing, cooking, and time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and twin sons, Andrew and Joseph.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy; children, David (Nicole), Elizabeth (Corey) Kleiter, Tiffany Venners, and Christopher (Jenny) Setter; grandchildren, Katelyn, Oskar, Natalie, Ian, Elisibeth, and Arrica; sisters, Jean (John) Lofquist, Mary (Mike) Long, and Sharon (Mark) Hamilton; brothers, Richard and John L’Allier; and many nieces and nephews.
