From Mark Ryan
On Friday, May 18, we camped at the Burlington Bay Campground in Two Harbors. It was a beautiful night when we arrived at 10:30 p.m. At about 12:20 a.m. we were in awe as we watched the most amazing sight in the eastern sky over the lake.
We first noticed three lights that were somewhat together, and, as we watched, they moved together then apart, then seemed to be stationary and then disappeared. As we were standing in uncertainty of what we just saw, there appeared in the same general area five more lights. They seemed to behave the same: moving, then stationary, and then moving back and forth horizontally before they disappeared.
Again, moments later, we counted 10 of these bright amber light sources. We thought they were shooting stars, but unlike anything we have ever seen as they didn’t fall as expected. The whole event that we saw lasted about five minutes and concluded with what we interpreted differently as two very, very high, fast-moving sets of lights that quickly disappeared. We don’t know what any of this was other than very intriguing.
Just wanted to share and hope that others saw this as well.
