Mild winter has MnDOT ahead on projects

The Minnesota Department of Transportation said this week that the mild winter allowed it to catch up with projects that usually get left behind under heavy plowing and de-icing work.

The projects including pothole patching, crack sealing, repairs to median barriers, culvert inspections and repairs, and brush trimming.

MnDOT spent $45.9 million on winter maintenance during the 2011-12 winter season compared to the annual average of $66.1 million the last four years. It spent $81.1 million on snow and ice removal during the 2010-11 season.
