Floodwood 4

The Agates suffered their first loss in the Polar League Conference. We just couldn’t get our bats going and only had three hits for the game. We hit the ball hard at times, but right to someone. We had the lead through most of the game, but the tide began to turn in the fifth inning. Floodwood brought in two runs with four hits in the fifth. “It had been a long week, even at that point. The girls were emotionally drained from the loss of their teammate, Katie, and we didn’t have the reserves to turn the game around in the seventh.” Floodwood added two more runs in the sixth to take the win.

Cromwell 1

The Agate bats got back into the rhythm on Thursday night with 16 hits and another conference win. Cromwell has a fair pitcher and young players. The Agates capitalized on every hit.

Silver Bay 3

The Agates got off to a slow start on Monday with Silver Bay jumping to a 3-0 lead in the third inning off some Agate errors. We started out the fourth with a couple of walks and took advantage by scoring three runs. Madison Olson had a timely double, bringing her teammates in for the score. Madison got stronger on the mound as her teammates tacked on another three runs in the fifth. “The team held their composure as they came from behind to take the win.”

Tuesday, May 15

Esko 2

The Lady Agates lost a heart-breaker last night. The conference title was on the line and both teams battled hard — 12 innings of good pitching and great defense. The Agates now need to wait until the outcome of the Esko-Carlton game to know their fate in the conference. It could end up a three-way tie among the three teams.
