The Minnesota Seniors won the CCM National Invitational Tournament in Plymouth with a 1-0 victory over Team Wisconsin. Wisconsin had defeated them 4-2 in pool play earlier in the tournament. Marina Carter was a member of the championship team.
The softball team now has a record of 8-1 and remains unbeaten versus Class A opponents with 11 games remaining on the schedule. Wins over Duluth Marshall, Cook County, and McGregor would wrap up the No. 1 seed in the south half of Section 7A as the Mariners are 7-0 versus section opponents. They are 4-1 in the conference with six conference games remaining.
The baseball team defeated Cook County 3-1 at Grand Marais to even their record at 2-2 and then fell 10-0 at home to a very good Ely team in five innings. Zack Duresky picked up the win going 4.2 innings and Daniel Wilson had the save as he finished up. Jonah Koehler was two for three and Wilson had two RBIs.
Tomorrow the softball team is at Pine City for an invitational tournament. They host Esko on Tuesday and Cook County on Thursday. The baseball team also hosts Esko and Cook County on the same days. The track teams return to Two Harbors on Tuesday for another Two Harbors Invitational meet.
