Arts on Superior is sponsoring a community drum circle and potluck next Thursday at the Community Center in Two Harbors.
The potluck will begin at 5:30 p.m., drumming around 6:15. Bring a dish to share. Plates and eating utensils will be provided. Water and pop will be available for purchase. A donation of $10 per person is requested. The community drum circle is a fundraiser for our summer programs. Everyone is welcome to come and drum.
Arts on Superior is looking toward a summer filled with art in Two Harbors and the near North Shore of Lake Superior. Last month was our very first drum circle, “Welcome Spring.” We had so much fun we decided to do it again. We are already looking forward to summer and drumming outside. Join us this month for a fun couple of hours of meeting others in our community and sharing a few beats together.
Drumming will begin around 6:15 p.m. after the potluck. Drums and percussion instruments will be available but please bring your own if you have them. We will begin with simple rhythms everyone can master. As we move through the evening, we can begin layering other rhythms and percussive sounds into our “grooves.” Drumming is for everyone — young and old alike — and we will all learn together. There is no better way to come together than sharing a meal and drumming together.
The Arts on Superior Facebook page will have an event for the drum circle. Please join the event if you can make it.
If you cannot make it to this fundraiser, please consider giving a tax-deductible donation. You may do this through the Arts on Superior website www.artsonsuperior.org by clicking “Donate Now” or by mailing a check to Arts on Superior, P.O. Box 185, Two Harbors, MN 55616.
In the past six years, Arts on Superior has sponsored ten Artist in Residencies in the Lake County Schools, two summers of free Fridays in the Park concerts, and two fall concerts with workshops. The vision of Arts on Superior is to build community through the arts and they want you to join us in celebrating our community and the arts.
Please visit the Arts on Superior website and sign up for the email list to know when events are happening in Two Harbors. “Like” them on Facebook for another way to stay in touch. The group does not send out a lot of emails; Facebook is their favorite way to list upcoming events.More from around the web
