Campfire restrictions in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness ended Wednesday.
Late last week, the Forest Service banned campfires in the region, except between 7 p.m. and midnight, because of warm, dry and windy conditions.
But continued precipitation in most of the Superior National Forest prompted the Forest Service to lift that ban at 7 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release
Forest visitors always are urged to be careful with campfires, using designated fire rings when available and making sure all fires are extinguished before leaving.
