Cathy was born Jan. 3, 1962, to Wayne and Linda (Donovan) Johnson in Gary, Ind. She lived in Lake Station, Ind. before moving to Two Harbors in 1968. Cathy attended and graduated from high school in Two Harbors in 1980. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior, graduating with a degree in paralegal studies. After college, Cathy worked as a paralegal in Duluth. She then worked for many years at Judy’s Café in Two Harbors. More recently she worked as a paralegal in Cloquet and at Art’s Café in Moose Lake.
Cathy loved baking, cooking, and entertaining. She also enjoyed sailboats and the water.
She was a charter member of the Evangelical Free Church in Two Harbors. Cathy loved the Lord and shared her faith with everyone.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents and a brother Bryon Johnson.
She is survived by her husband James Caspersen; a son, Matt Pavelka of Superior; step children Nikki (Darren) Dahl, Jimmy Caspersen, and Casey (Gary) Davis; step-grandchildren Coeur d’Alene and Oliver; her parents, Wayne and Linda Johnson of Two Harbors; a sister Brenda (Rod) Syck of Duluth; nephew Kai; nieces Keelan and Ayla; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cathy had a true gift for people and no one was a stranger for long, culminating in lifelong friendships. She had a giving heart and always put others before herself.
Visitation will be from noon until the 1 p.m. service Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at the Evangelical Free Church in Two Harbors. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors. To sign the on-line register book please visit www.cavallinfuneralhome.com.
