Gooseberry Falls State Park is having a candlelight ski, snowshoe, and walk special event from 6-8:30 p.m. Saturday.
The event is free, but a Minnesota Ski Pass is required for skiers age 16 and older (a $6 daily Ski Pass can be purchased at park). A State Park Vehicle Permit is required if you need to park away from the Wayside Rest/Visitor Center parking lot.
Depending on snow conditions, trails for classic cross country skiing, snow shoeing and the accessible paved hiking trail to upper falls will be dramatically lit by candles. Outdoor warming fires are available as well as the indoor fire in the parks heated Visitor Center. Volunteers are needed to help with the event.
If there is not enough snow cover for skiing and snowshoeing, a hike is planned. The event will only be canceled for extreme cold weather. For more information about the event or trail conditions, call the park at 834-3855.
