Ski team could see snowless season

Two Harbors High school Nordic ski team co-coach Sara Bryns is still waiting on winter to finally reveal itself.
She’s coached skiing in Two Harbors since 2003 and can only cite one other year that disappointed her as much in terms of snow. Bryns said that it’s getting harder to get kids excited about the season when they only get to ski during competitions. She said that she hopes the snow hurries up and comes. “The sooner, the better because our season ends in mid-February,” she said.
Nevertheless, the season presses on. At the Jan. 3 Two Harbors Classic ski meet held at Mt. Itasca due to lack of snow, Owen Cruikshank and Drew Christensen placed 28th and 31st for the Two Harbors varsity boys. For the varsity girls, Kiersten Haaverson and Savannah Juenemann placed 13th and 29th while Marina Schreiner placed 9th for the junior varsity girls.
