LETTER TO THE EDITOR: 'Tis the season for red kettles

During the Christmas season many families in Lake County have a tradition of intensifying their giving to others. Many do acts of kindness, while others find ways to support local charities with monetary gifts. Some people do both.
The Salvation Army needs bell ringers and a little help with some new ideas to help raise funds for next year’s program. Last year, Two Harbors fell about $5,000 short of the goal of raising the $20,000 that was needed to help families and disaster relief in the Two Harbors area.
We are inviting you to help ring the bells in Two Harbors. Any one or any organization can sign up online by using this link http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/11923456390483560102. Enter your email address and enter the calendar where you can choose a location and time to ring in Two Harbors. You can also email me at martybyrnes@gmail.com or call me at 464-1213 to sign up for a time and location to ring for the Salvation Army. We need ringers at three locations starting Nov. 21 through Dec. 24.
This year we would like to have several businesses contact us to put a donation bucket at their place of business. Speaking of our great businesses in Lake County, we are looking for at least three participants in the “Match the Ringer Program.” That is when a business will match up to $500 for a specific day or time period of bell ringing. We will get the word out about the times and locations of a “Match the Ringer” and have a little more fun. Give me a call, and we will set it up.
Thanks everyone for your kindness.
