Ready for North Shore life

There is nothing like living out of a suitcase for four years. I am exaggerating. But over the past few years, I have moved constantly. The college in Massachusetts that I attended was the only place I stayed at for more than three months at a time. I have been lucky enough to live and work in nearby places like Bemidji and as far away as my birthplace Seoul, South Korea.

But I grew up in Superior, Wis. I maintain that there is no other place quite like the northwoods, a statement I kept repeating to all of my friends back in Massachusetts. They were skeptical. But then my roommate and I drove here together for last year’s winter break, a tiresome 24-hour drive. After seeing the beauty of Lake Superior and experiencing the friendliness of the community, she was forced to agree that I was right.

I’m thrilled to be back in the area and am excited about getting to know the Two Harbors community. I feel privileged to become a reporter for this paper and have to thank the mentors who prepared me for this job. I was lucky enough to have worked twice with Mike Simonson at 91.3 KUWS in Superior (the editor, Brittany Berrens, and I think that we actually crossed paths at KUWS without realizing it) and Fred Bever and the staff of 88.5 WFCR/WNNZ in Amherst, Mass.

Any kind of input from you, the readers, is welcome. Feel free to stop me if you see me on the street to introduce yourself and talk to me about what is going on in the community. I wanted to become a journalist because I wanted to help inform people so they could make their own thoughtful, independent decisions. With your help, I hope to do that.
